    Frequently asked questions

    What is UA Mental Help?

UA Mental Help is a Ukrainian charitable foundation, founded in 2022, that provides free professional psychological support to people affected by Russia's war against Ukraine. Its 80+ certified specialists have given more than 37,000 free consultations and supported more than 27,000 people individually.

    Is the help really free?

Yes. Every format is free: the hotline, the Telegram chat, online consultations, support groups and the Ya Tut app.

How do I get free psychological help in Ukraine?

Call the hotline at 0 800 331 200 or message a psychologist in our Telegram chat, daily from 10:00 to 21:00. For a longer conversation, book a free 50-minute online consultation; a coordinator will match you with a suitable specialist.

What if I need help right now, outside these hours?

If you or someone near you is in immediate danger, call 112.

    Who can get help?

Anyone in Ukraine who is struggling, especially people affected by the war, women and children, young people, and helping professionals such as doctors, teachers and social workers. The minimum age for video consultations is 18, and minors need a parent's consent.

Can I get help if I live outside Ukraine?

Yes. Ukrainians abroad can use our Telegram chat and online consultations, which work over the internet. The hotline is free from Ukrainian numbers.

    Is it confidential?

Yes. Our psychologists follow a code of ethics, and we have client safeguarding and data protection policies.

Who are the psychologists, and what methods do they use?

Our 80+ certified specialists use evidence-based methods, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR and structured crisis counselling, and receive regular clinical supervision. We measure each person's wellbeing at the start and end of their sessions using international clinical scales.

    Do you offer psychiatric consultations?

Yes. Our individual support programme includes psychological and psychiatric consultations as well as crisis support.

Do you work with children and families?

Yes. We run school sessions on emotional resilience and self-regulation, education programmes for parents, and digital self-help tools for young people.

How can I donate from the United States?

US donors can give tax-deductibly through International Mental Help, Inc., a US 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 33-3146391), on our donation page. A $25 monthly gift covers one session with a crisis psychologist.

How is UA Mental Help governed and funded?

UA Mental Help is overseen by an independent Supervisory Board and publishes annual financial reports on its Reports page. It is funded by international donors, companies and individual supporters; our hotline and chat run as part of the Brave Together project by Maybelline New York.
